Morot L'Halakha Class receives full day lectures with Dr. Levmore
Dr. Rachel Levmore, the director of the IYIM Agunah and Get-Refusal Prevention Project, presented a full day of lectures and high level Torah classes to the leading “Morot L’Halakha – Advanced Halakha Program” of Matan HaSharon in Raanana. This is a training program for women spiritual leaders in their respective communities, as such there is great importance to having these program participants study the material relating to the agunah and get-refusal problem, in depth. Prior to the full day of lectures, the students were given source sheets to study and prepare. The entire gamut of lectures enlightened the women to the legal and halakhic situation today and how each affects the other. In addition the students studied sources relating to the composition of halakhic prenuptial agreements for the prevention of get-refusal. Several hours of the lectures were dedicated to the Agreement for Mutual Respect – its mechanisms, halakhic and legal validity, dissemination and efficacy. As the female students of rabbinics said themselves: they left the very full day of study “on a high” – inspired and knowledgeable as to their role in eradicating the agunah problem.
