A Meaningful Tu B'Shvat with the Petach Tikvah Deaf Community

Rabbi Chanoch Yeres, co-Director of IYIM’s Judaic Heritage Program for the Deaf and hearing impaired, joined the Deaf community of Petach Tikvah to celebrate Tu B’shvat. The event featured dried fruit, special brachot, and a good time was had by all. Tu B’shvat is a celebration of the new year for the trees, that marks a turning point in the Israeli calendar after a cold winter. Rabbi Yeres led the Tu B’shvat seder, a tradition of trying new Israeli fruits for the season, after which the some 20 adults joined with him for songs and stories.
