Postnup Signing Event

Luvnot U’Lehibanot, Tzfat

March 8, 2018

A historic event was held in Tzfat by the IYIM Get-Refusal Prevention Project! Continuing the Agunah and Get-Refusal Project’s aim of holding Postnuptial Signing Parties in communities around Israel, in order to educate the public through a surprising method – a “Do as I do” approach – the Anglo community hosted the  IYIM Postnuptial Signing Party on March 8th in the Old City of Tzfat. The Postnuptial Agreement Signing Party was an exemplary demonstration of how good people getting together can make a difference in “Tikkun Olam”, in bettering Jewish society.

Guests were treated to good food and melodic music by their own local rabbi and his wife, Rabbi Yacov and Miriam Drori, who provide leadership in promoting signing the Agreement of Mutual Respect amongst both married and engaged couples. The IYIM staff succeeded in creating an intimate ambiance, as is becoming to the spiritual atmosphere in this special city, and there was no doubt that the words of explanation of Rav Drori and IYIM’s Dr. Rachel Levmore, together with the act of signing the postnuptial Agreement for Mutual Respect, created a deep and long-lasting impression upon the participants. Each one will carry the message forward to all marrying couples – You can wipe out the agunah problem in Israeli society by signing the Agreement for Mutual Respect for the prevention of get-refusal!

The participants were so grateful and raving about the evening in its entirety and about the meaningful mission that was accomplished– feeling that they had actually made history and influenced their own families and Jewish society.
