Rosh Hashana in Ashkelon

Two days before Rosh Hashana, rabbi Yeres from IYIM Judaic Heritage Program for the Deaf presented a hands-on workshop at the deaf and Hard of Hearing center in Ashkelon. The event was attended by the mayor of Ashkelon, Mr. Tomer Galam, who wished us all a happy new year.

Rabbi Yeres took the opportunity to encourage the mayor to expand the city’s support of the deaf community. The mayor gladly agreed to carry out the suggestion.

Rabbi Yeres concluded the workshop with a beautiful story about the importance of praying – our prayers are always answered though not always immediately.

He encouraged the participants to pray “personal prayers” to g- on Rosh Hashana- for health and good tidings for them and their loved ones.

The sound of the shofar  in the deaf center of Ashkelon accompanied all to a sweet year!
